                               Similarities

The Summer of the Monkeys movie has only some similarities to the book. Such as the storm, that was very accurate and well done. The circus train crash was also similar the same thing with the Old Man of the Mountains. As these events, people, and things were very big parts of the book , I am glad these were put into the movie. Rowdy was also still in the movie, as was Grandpa. Daisy was also a cripple to so, at least the most important thing was in the movie.

                               Differences

There are many differences between the book and the movie. Like Rowdy, for instance,  was not a Blue-Tick Hound and the pony was not a Paint but was a Quarter and her name was different. Daisy’s leg was not as crippled plus she did not even have her crutch and the amount, name, and the reward for the monkeys was different too. Then there was Toby and his buddies and they hit Rowdy with a trap. Grandpa’s involvement with the whole situation was not as prominent as it was in the book.  Also, Jay Berry did not lose his britches or get drunk.

                                   Opinion

The movie could have been better but, if you hadn't of read the book the movie would have been pretty good. There are some things that could have been done to make the movie better. I understand the the amount of monkeys being different because of budget and/or other logical reasons but, it would not have been that hard to get a Blue-Tick hound or a Paint pony. The movie did not follow the plot line of the book the best but, overall it was still very entertaining movie.
